We are looking for two accounts apprentices to join our team covering audit, accountancy and taxation. This is a great opportunity for motivated, articulate and career-minded individuals to progress in a career within accountancy and gain experience with a wide range of clients across various sectors in our Old Town based firm.

Annual wage
£15,483 a year

The pay may be negotiated and may rise after a probation period has been successfully completed.

Training course
Accounts or finance assistant (level 2)
Monday to Thursday: 8:45 – 5:15 (1 hours lunch) Friday: 8:30 – 4:30 (30 minutes lunch)

37 hours a week

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

The AAT Level 2 Accounts and Finance Assistant Apprenticeship.

Training on the job and through taught sessions at New College Swindon. The training schedule has yet to be agreed upon, further details will be made available at a later date

Apprentices will be required to take the professional qualification listed below, as chosen by the employer to be most relevant to the job role:

  • AAT Level 2 Certificate 

AAT Level 2 is a 12-15 month apprenticeship.

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • Maths and English (grade Grade 6 (B+) and above)

    Desirable qualifications

    A Level or equivalent in:

    • 3 A-Levels (grade 112 UCAS points (B,B,C))

    Other requirements

    Interview Process: We would like an initial call with new college to assess individuals, followed by an in person interview, we may then implement a general aptitude test if we feel it’s relevant, following this we will then invite a selection of individuals to take part in a short period of work experience followed by a job offer if suitable for the role.

    After this apprenticeship

    • 3 Years AAT + Potential for future progression to ACCA
    • During your five-year programme, you’ll be learning, gaining paid real-work experience and initially studying towards your AAT qualification (There is a level 3 and 4 available after the level 2). This is then followed by a full professional ACCA accounting qualification. This includes time off work to attend college, complete online learning, and sit your exams etc as well as the most important part – on the job real-world experience and training.
