What you will do in your working day

All of the team at The Plough are involved with ordering menu planning and dish development. We have a team of 5 chefs and cook everything from our cultivated yeast to make our sourdough breads, individual stocks, sauces, to desserts, and ice creams. We slow cook, cure, and smoke, using a combination of oven, plancha, Josper ovens Green Egg. We do butchery and fish preparation. All of the team are involved with ordering menu planning and dish development.

Your responsibilities:

  • Working on each section of the kitchen to assist in maintaining an excellent reputation for quality of food and service
  • Working towards producing a high standard of food quality, accuracy and presentation, for each allocated section of the kitchen
  • Working towards an appropriate speed and efficiency of service
  • Seeking to have a good understanding of all products relating to food and equipment
  • Ordering ingredients to meet business demand and  monitoring stock of prepared foods
  • Respecting ingredients and working towards reducing waste
  • Maintaining and cleaning equipment  to a high standard of health safety and hygiene
  • Completing HACCAP control sheets to company standards
  • Working towards compliance of health and safety and hygiene to Company standards and statutory obligations in all areas of the business

  • To show a positive attitude at all times with work colleagues guests and suppliers
  • To communicate clearly and effectively with work colleagues and suppliers

Due to our rural location, you may need access to your own vehicle.

If you can’t drive we do have regular access to lift sharing from Bedford and some areas of Rushden, and would be happy to discuss this with any interested candidate.
