What you will do in your working day

Please note, to be considered for this opportunity you must already have the AAT Level 2 qualification.

As a Finance Assistant Apprentice you will be responsible for providing support to clients, attending client meetings and processes accounts details. Your duties can include some or all of the following:

  • Producing and finalising accounts for service charge accounts, to be reviewed by the team supervisor before being sent to any client
  • Preparation of traditional accounts for review by the Accounting Team Manager
  • Preparation of self assessment tax returns to be reviewed by the Tax Compliance Manager
  • Bookkeeping services where required
  • Using IRIS correctly so job progress reporting is readily available to all staff members. Including updating workflow spreadsheet
  • Picking up service charge accounts jobs without being prompted. Should there be a shortage of service charge jobs, you should speak to Dylan who will provide you with work
  • Production of files to ensure compliance is met
  • Attending client meetings to provide accounts support
  • Answering incoming calls from clients and making outgoing telephone calls to clients
  • Providing email support to clients where required, remaining professional at all times and answering within 2 working days
  • Providing support to your team where required on a daily basis
  • Ad hoc administration which is a direct result of accounts you produce. For example, requesting a letter or engagement, letter of representation or invoice to complete an accounts job
  • Attending training courses to support your job role, completing the professional development hours required annually
  • General office housekeeping, including making hot or cold drinks for staff and clients

The training you will be getting

Level 3 Accountant Assistant Apprenticeship Standard. You will complete an 18-month apprenticeship which includes 1 day per week at the PETA training centre in Cosham. You will be supported every 6 weeks with visits from your PETA Learning & Development Coach.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Your contract will be available to you throughout the duration of your apprenticeship, we cannot guarantee a position temporary or permanent, following completion of the apprenticeship.
