What you will do in your working day

  • Diagnosing vehicle faults manually or with the aid of software and digital tools
  • Preparing cost and time estimates for work done
  • Repairing and replacing faulty vehicle parts
  • Performing test drives to check repairs
  • Carrying out scheduled servicing and maintenance
  • Updating vehicle service records
  • Installing and fitting new vehicle accessories
  • Maintaining a database of spare parts in the repair garage

The training you will be getting

  • Apprentice will initially be working towards a Level 2 Autocare apprenticeship, with the opportunity to move onto a Level 3 Light Motor Vehicle Maintenance apprenticeship
  • Training will be given at Castleford College
  • Apprentice will study one day a week
  • If apprentice does not already hold GCSE maths and English at 4/C or above, they may be eligible and will be required to complete a Level 2 Function Skills qualification in both maths and English alongside apprenticeship. These are completed in a week block (one week for each) at Castleford College
