The training you will be getting

Course information:

  • During your apprenticeship you will be enrolled at Leeds City College (School of Food and Drink) and will complete the following programme:
  • Level 2 Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths (if required).

This programme allows students to develop their skills, knowledge and behaviours through the practical period which can be delivered at college, as well as on-the-job training delivered in the workplace by your employer.

The role is very varied and although hospitality team members tend to specialise in an area, they have to be adaptable and ready to support team members across the business, for example during busy periods. Specialist areas in hospitality include food and beverage service, serving alcoholic beverages, barista, food preparation, housekeeping, concierge and guest services, reception, reservations and conference and banqueting.

The most important part of the role is developing fantastic ‘hospitality’ skills and knowledge such as recognising customer needs, knowing how to match them to the products and services of the business and working as part of a team to ensure that every customer feels welcomed and looked after.

Duration & start date:

This is a 15-month apprenticeship (12 months for the practical period and 3 months for the end point assessment).
