What you will do in your working day

  • Creating, managing and booking in PO’s (Purchase Orders) for production materials and consumables
  • Assisting with annual stocktakes
  • Controlling and maintaining accurate stock levels of materials and consumables through:
  • Regular stock-taking
  • Cycle counting
  • Updating of stocks in ERP (Engineering Requirements Planning)
  • Purchasing and issue of workwear for JRI staff
  • Managing returns of supplier parts when SCAR’s (Supplier
  • Corrective Action Reports) are raised
  • Maintaining accurate records of VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) stock
  • Other administrative tasks, such as: scanning and archiving of documents within DocuWare and scanning and archiving of documents within ERP
  • Providing basic cover when the Senior Buyer is off-site

The training you will be getting

This apprenticeship qualification is called Level 3 Procurement & Supply Assistant which awards an Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations, alongisde Functional Skills Level 2 English and maths if required .

This standard aligns with the following professional recognition:

  • Chartered Institute Procurement & Supply for N/A

You will also complete a Vendor or Professional qualification alongside the apprenticeship, which is CIPS Level 3.
