What you will do in your working day

Daily duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the dentist in surgery
  • Communicating with patients
  • Showing empathy and being supportive to patients
  • Answering telephone calls and booking in appointments
  • Setting up and cleaning of surgeries
  • Sterilising instruments
  • Taking payments and completing general admin tasks
  • Everyday cleaning of the practice 

The training you will be getting

  • Upon completion, the apprentice will receive a Level 3 Dental Nurse Apprenticeship along with a level 3 Dental Nurse Diploma
  • The apprentice will attend a day release during term time, held at St Helens College Town Centre Campus

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • To become a fully qualified dental nurse
  • The successful applicant can progress onto post qualifications such as: radiography, impression taking, sedation and implant nursing

Things to consider

Due to the nature of the job, appointments do not always run on time, so flexibility on working hours is needed as it is not always possible to finish on time. Due to working with the public, the hepatitis B vaccine is given to trainees.
