What you will do in your working day

Supporting the HR Manager with full employee life cycle - onboarding new hires, supporting them through their journey with Tait and the process of managing leaving employees.

Acting as a front facing person for the HR function with support from the HR Manager.

After one year, the HR Apprentice will be sent to New Zealand to see HQ, meeting our HR colleagues in New Zealand, seeing our factory and be in the heart of our business, meeting many support functions.

Key responsibilities & tasks:

  • Supporting the HR Manager with employee documents, administration and ensuring our employee data base is up to date.
  • Supporting the HR Manager with benefits renewal, health, dental etc.
  • Working with the HR Manager on exciting regional and global projects.
  • Handling initial questions from our employees with the support from HR Manager.
  • Working with the HR manager on policies & processes, attending meetings with the HR Manager around updates to employment law, legislation, and case law.
  • Working with the HR Manager on payroll entry
  • Working with the HR Manager on training needs in the region, rolling out support workshops for our employees.

The training you will be getting

The HR Manager will support the apprentice through any course work.

As part of the Level 3 CIPD qualification, the apprentice will need to demonstrate hands on experience around HR matters and must be able to demonstrate that as part of their CIPD qualification.

The apprentice would be assigned an assessor through the College, who would typically come out to visit in the workplace to assess workplace HR skills, progress reviews, and observations. 

The knowledge side would be delivered via day release attendance to Cambridge Campus, plus access to online portal VLE (Virtual Learning Environment), and assignments/ evidence of work/ portfolio would be submitted via an online Smart Assessor.

The practical training period is the time dedicated to the development of the knowledge, skills and behaviours for your apprenticeship which includes the following components;

  • Level 3 CIPD Foundation Certificate in People Practice.
  • On-programme assignments.
  • The HR apprentice would work towards an End Point Assessment.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Once completed this qualification, you will receive a Level 3 CIPD qualification. With the experience gained in the business, this person could transition into HR Administrator/ HR Coordinator role, or perhaps a junior HR advisor role.
