Job Description
- A time served apprentice to undertake multi-skilled electrical and/or mechanical engineering work providing equipment installation, breakdown and maintenance activities on a varied range of high-level food manufacturing machinery.
Responsibilities
- Conduct risk assessment prior to any maintenance work and ensure conclusions are implemented prior to the start of work to remove hazards.
- Carry out preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled during the shift to the highest standards within a given timeframe, whilst maintaining accurate records of all maintenance actions.
- Conduct continuous machine observation and measurement during the shift, identifying potential failure or deterioration in output, waste, or quality performance from machine standards.
- Determine cause of potential failure or performance deterioration and either complete remedial work during the shift or submit a brief report to subsequent shift engineer outlining the issue, cause, and recommended solution.
- Respond immediately to equipment failures.
- Investigate faults, identify causes, and determine the most effective solution to the fault.
- Report on the nature of faults, causes, and solutions via our CMMS maintenance system.
- Volunteer ideas/initiatives that contribute to service levels and maintenance / equipment improvements.

Training will be at Doncaster College where you will access a wide range of facilities on offer.
Day release
You will undertake The Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard. Mechatronics pathway.

After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development, all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence).
After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development, all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Mechatronics Maintenance Technician.
- Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge).
You will undertake Functional Skills for English and/or Maths if needed.
You will undertake both on and off-the-job training by a team of industry-qualified professionals to give you the best skills, knowledge, and experience.
