Engineering Apprentice HORSTMAN DEFENCE SYSTEMS LIMITED

Hortsman are looking to recruit Level 3 Engineering Apprentices to work with our Manufacturing Engineers and Design Engineers, and to grow your understanding of the design of our products and the processes behind the manufacturing of them. You will also spend time in other departments, such as our Quality Department, to get obtain understanding of the business. Duties include: Spending time undertaking tasks in our CNC machine shop and undertaking assembly tasks in our assembly department.

    £19,124.00

    Salary increases per year of apprenticeship – it is based on a % of our Skilled CNC machinist rate. Annual inflationary company wide pay review. Non contractual bonus based on business performance, equivalent to around 1 to 2 weeks pay.

    Year 1 college full time, term time only. Then: 7.30am to 4.00pm, Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 12.30pm, Friday

What you will do in your working day

  • Spending time undertaking tasks in our CNC machine shop
  • Undertaking assembly tasks in our Assembly department

The training you will be getting

  • Engineering technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard

After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)

After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Technical Support
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) - for all starts from 1st July 2017.

Classroom and work-based teaching and assessment to monitor, knowledge, skills, and behaviours to ensure industry competencies.
