What you will do in your working day

  • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners
  • Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades
  • Setting up accounts for staff, ensuring that they know how to log in
  • Solving password problems
  • Talking to clients and computer users to determine the nature of any problems they encounter
  • Responding to breakdowns
  • Investigating, diagnosing, and solving computer software and hardware faults
  • Repairing equipment and replacing parts
  • Supervising junior engineering and technical staff
  • Obtaining replacement or specialist components, fixtures or fittings
  • Checking computer equipment for electrical safety

The training you will be getting

IT Solutions Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:

  • The Level 3 IT Solutions Technician programme is designed to provide the knowledge and skills to develop, implement and maintain complete IT solutions, including their hardware infrastructure.
  • IT Solutions Technicians apply a professional methodology or framework to gather and analyse the requirements in order to design, develop, test and implement the most appropriate IT solutions.
  • This programme offers two pathways that provide the underpinning knowledge and skills in either a Hardware Solutions role or a Software Solutions role.
  • The structured part of your apprenticeship training will be provided by JBC Skills Training, we are a specialist technical IT training provider.
  • You will also learn on-the-job, working alongside experienced colleagues.
  • You will gain a Level 3 IT Solutions Technician qualification upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
