Newport Girls’ High School is seeking to appoint a full-time PE and School Sports Apprentice to support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning. What you will do in your working day
- Support the delivery of PE and school sport including taking / coaching groups of students
- Help select/train teams
- Run/assist with lunchtime/after school clubs
- Assist with competitions and school games
- Mentor groups of more able/less able
- Assist with small group literacy/numeracy tasks if PE not timetabled
- Help with assessments and inputting of data
- Organise PE notice boards
- Take charge of PE store cupboard
- To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post
The training you will be getting
- Working towards gaining the skills, knowledge and behaviours, alongside the 11 planned duties, to complete the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard
- Teaching Assistant / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education
- The school will train the Apprentice in First Aid to help provide support during the school day as necessary
- Every three weeks you will attend a day at the London Road Campus for day release, and the remainder of the week will be based in the workplace
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
On completion of this course, you can go into teaching or higher education. There could also be the possibility of a full-time job for the successful candidate on completion of the apprenticeship.
