The Southampton Engineering Training Association (SETA) is supporting Vintage Bentley to recruit a L3 Mechanical Fitter Apprentice to join their Engineering team and develop within the organisation. Main tasks/focus will be trained in all aspects of vehicle restoration of 1922-1932 Bentleys.

What you will do in your working day
Apprentices working at Vintage Bentley will be working an integral part of the team, whilst working to complete the requirements of the Mechanical Fitter Standard.
To ensure you gain the required experience you will complete an extensive training program, learning all aspects of the business to gain an understanding of how the various departments work together.
As well as learning you will be show how to:
- service, repair & restore Vintage Bentleys
- you may be track side supporting events such as Goodwood Revival and Festival of Speed amongst others
Time at Vintage Bentley will be spent developing your skills to become a highly skilled automotive technician. Also Vintage Bentley have a toolroom where gearboxes, differentials, steering boxes and engines are reconditioned.
The training you will be getting
Apprentices will undertake a Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard programme. This will include a full-time period of practical workshop based ‘off-the-job’ training at SETA’s Apprenticeship Centre in Southampton.
You will also begin a knowledge qualification (depending on your prior attainments) where you will be required to attend SETA one day a week over two academic years.
Choose you will work towards one of the following qualifications: 1) Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) – Awarding organisation EAL; GLH 750, or 2) Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge) – Awarding organisation Pearson; GLH 720 or 3) Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) Awarding organisation City & Guilds; GLH 720.
Level: 3
After your initial training at SETA, you will be with your employer working on developing your skills; ultimately leading to your End Point Assessment.
To achieve full certification SETA will make regular visits during your time in the workplace to ensure you are developing all the required skills within the Standard, including the specified behaviours and checking your theory knowledge via professional discussions.
All training culminates in your EPA, these final tests are administered by an independent assessment organisation and take place in the last three months of the apprenticeship.
