Some time will also be given to assist in planned and reactive maintenance under the direction of the maintenance supervisor.

What you will do in your working day
Painting and Decorating
Work with the maintenance team under the supervision of an experienced painter to learn the skills required to become a painter and decorator. This includes:
- Planning materials and time required to complete a task.
- Correct choice of equipment and preparation of an area.
- Skills for mixing and matching colours and materials.
- Applying paint and gloss to different surfaces.
- Attention to detail for high-quality task completion.
Projects
- Work on planned projects as directed.
- Work to timescales, ensuring all work produced is of the highest quality.
Health & Safety
- Ensure all work undertaken is carried out safely, taking due care and attention for your own health & safety and that of others.
- Ensure all work meets current legislation, regulations and compliance.
- Adhere to Middleton Hall policies and procedures.
- Document and maintain accurate records in line with current legislation and Middleton Hall procedures.
Equipment & Resources
- Ensure materials purchased are the highest quality while maintaining value for money, checking comparative suppliers.
- Keep all maintenance equipment in good working order.
- Ensure all supplies/equipment are stored securely and checked before each use and in line with Health and Safety policy.
- Ensure workshop and store areas are maintained and provide a safe working environment.
Planned & Reactive Maintenance
- Learn how to carry out daily/weekly/regular tasks and checks around the building.
- Report all faults or potential issues to your supervisor or Head of Facilities and learn appropriate action to rectify.
- Work with the team to carry out repairs to the building (internal and external).
- Learn basic repairs to equipment, and furniture as necessary.
Additional
- Develop effective working relationships with all Co-owners, Residents and visitors to Middleton Hall.
- Report any sub-standard/defective equipment to the Maintenance Supervisor or Head of Facilities.
- Any other ad hoc duties as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or Head of Facilities.
The training you will be getting
- Level 2 Painting & Decorating qualification at Stockton Riverside College
- Functional skills Maths & English, if required
