Rate of pay for apprentice aged 18 or over will match the national minimum rate. You may work up to 40 hours per week depending on business needs.

What you will do in your working day
o Assist in all aspects of the production, preparation and creating of all dishes at the production kitchen.
o Assist in all aspects of finishing all dishes in our onsite kitchen.
o Cooking dishes to the correct food specifications to reflect brand standards.
o Working alongside the wider team of chefs and completing tasks as directed by them.
o Ensuring daily and weekly cleaning tasks are met.
o Completion of daily paperwork and records e.g. fridge temperatures, order sheets.
o Ensuring compliance to the Food Health and Safety Act and COSHH regulations.
o Keeping up to date with new menus, products, promotions.
o Ensure correct storage, preparation and production of all ingredients to comply with allergens and maintaining allergen awareness knowledge.
o Opening and closing down the central production kitchen and other kitchen area.
The training you will be getting
This apprenticeship will give you the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to work as a production Chef and will include the following:
- Check, prepare, assemble, cook, regenerate, hold and present food meeting the needs of the customers and maintaining organisational standards and procedures.
- Use kitchen tools and equipment safely and correctly to produce consistently high quality dishes according to specifications.
- Understand how to produce dishes to suit individuals’ specific dietary, religious and allergenic needs as required.
- Understand how to operate within all regulations, legislation and procedural requirements and complete and maintain all documentation in relation to this.
- Understand how to maintain quality and consistency in food production by using resources in line with organisations’ financial constraints, style, specifications and ethos.
You will also produce a portfolio of evidence demonstrating examples of your work throughout the apprenticeship.
You will attend York College on a day release basis and the qualification achieved will be Production Chef Apprenticeship level 2.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
On completion of the apprenticeship there is a chance to have continued employment within the company or our sister company.
