  • Annual wage

    £13,520.00

    The apprentice will be paid £6.50 per hour for the first 12 months of their apprenticeship. The wage will then increase to either National Minimum Wage or the National Living Wage after this period.

What you will do in your working day

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with experienced professionals in the development and design of innovative products.
  • Assist in the creation of technical drawings, prototypes, and product specifications.
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions and provide creative input in the product development process.
  • Support the testing and evaluation of prototypes to ensure quality and functionality.
  • Gain hands-on experience with industry-standard design software and equipment.
  • Participate in workshops, training sessions, and educational programs to enhance technical skills.

The training you will be getting

For the full apprenticeship, candidates will complete:

  • Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) (601/7179/0)
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) (603/1353/5)

For the End Point Assessment (EPA) apprentices will undertake a viva interview (to check occupational competence), a portfolio of evidence and professional competence against the EngTech standard (usually in the form of a workplace project).

Apprentices must attend college sessions one day per week at the Ipswich Road campus, located near Norwich city centre.

Applicants who are currently undertaking or sitting GCSEs should include their predicted grades on their application. If successful for this position, you will be offered a conditional place on the apprenticeship, subject to you meeting the entry requirements listed above. Content covered in Years 1 and 2 (at college): • Hand fitting • Milling and/ or turning • CAD • Fluid power • PLCs and panels • 4 Mandatory work- based units Internal college Gateway process to check an apprentice’s suitability to progress on to Years 3 and 4. Content covered in Years 3 and 4: • 3 mandatory workplace units • 4 mandatory college units • Choice of 4 optional units with agreement from the employer and apprentice, depending on the role, business needs and any barred combinations from the module list • 11 units will be covered in total The employer also offers 31 days of holiday, increasing to 33 days after 2 years of service.
