Knaggs Solicitors are looking for an apprentice who has a passion for accounting. This role will be to support the business in all areas of the accounting processes along with the supporting admin work. You will be maintaining both bank accounts by performing daily bank reconciliation, paying all supplier invoices and monitoring cash flow.

What you will do in your working day

The main duties in this role include:

  • Logging the receipt of funds and properly allocating these to individual client accounts.
  • Making payments from both company and client bank accounts and posting these transactions on to internal systems.
  • Maintaining both bank accounts by performing daily bank reconciliations.
  • Paying all supplier invoices and disbursements and posting these payments to monitor cash flow.
  • Submitting quarterly VAT returns to HMRC.
  • Preparing monthly and weekly financial reports for the partners.
  • Monitoring and clearing residual balances on client’s ledgers.
  • Liaising with the COFA on any potential breaches.
  • Preparing payroll runs each month.
  • Admin related duties.
  • Follow all GDPR guidelines regarding data protection & confidentiality.

The training you will be getting

  • Level 2 Accounts/Finance Assistant at Stockton Riverside College.
  • Apprentices will be required to take one of the professional qualifications listed below, as chosen by the employer to be most relevant to the job role:

    • AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting

    • ACCA Certificate in financial and management accounting (level 2)

    • IAB Level 2 certificate in bookkeeping

    • ICB Level 2 certificate in bookkeeping

  • Functional skills Maths & English, if required.
