What you will do in your working day
The typical duties include:
· Assisting with day-to-day general maintenance in the Barge Yard
· Assisting with the installation of new equipment, components and systems
· Assisting with ship repair projects at our Gravesend site
· Following safety protocols while working around the Barge Yard and on the boats
· Keeping the workshop clean and maintained
· Maintaining and understand the purpose of Stores
· Attending and participating in training sessions as required
The training you will be getting
Full Engineering Technician Level 3 - Maritime Mechanical fitter Pathway. Qualifications include;
- Level 2 Diploma in Maritime Defence (Foundation Competence)
- Level 2 Diploma in Maritime Defence (Foundation Knowledge)
- Level 3 Diploma in Maritime Defence (Development Competence)
- Level 3 Diploma in Maritime Defence (Development Knowledge)
1 day at college, Luckyn Lane, Basildon and 4 days with Employer.
Training will be provided on a day release basis, therefore it is essential the apprentice is able to travel to the training provider in Essex. Reasonable travel expenses for training will be reimbursed.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
After the apprenticeship, there is the possibility to progress to permanent positions within the company, either onshore, afloat or working in our offices across London and Kent.
