What you will do in your working day

Tasks:

Organisation

  • Undertake reception duties e.g. answering telephones, face-to-face enquiries, liaising with relevant staff, outside agencies and parents as well as dealing with visitors.
  • Assist with pupil first aid/welfare.
  • Assisting with arrangements for visits by the school nurse team and school photographer etc.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and parents/visitors to ensure that tasks are completed to a high standard.

Administration

  • Provide efficient routine clerical support such as photocopying, filing, faxing, emailing and completing forms.
  • Maintain manual and computerised records/management information systems.
  • Undertake typing, word-processing and other IT-based tasks for example data entry of results or writing letters.
  • Sort and distribute mail.
  • Undertake routine administration e.g. checking registers, recording school meals and signing visitors in and out.
  • Resolve parent/visitor queries in a timely manner.

Resources

  • Operate office equipment e.g. photocopiers and computers appropriately.
  • Orderly arrangement and secure storage of supplies including ordering of a limited range of supplies.
  • Undertake routine financial administration e.g. collect and record dinner money.

  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.
  • Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
  • The job holder may be required to undertake additional duties as could be reasonably required in exceptional or emergencies.

  • Functional skills Maths & English, if required.
