What you will do in your working day

As a Planner Apprentice Business Admin your every day will be different!

One day, you will be carrying out general daily administration of the dashboard to fulfil, and or mitigate Performance Requirements to minimise financial deductions, the next you might be planning and scheduling: urgent, reactive, and longer-term works order together with providing or seeking swift resolution's program detractors. You will be using systems including Masternaught, Confirm Connect and Confirm Workzone to maximise productivity of resources through; reduction in wasted time, maximising first time fixes, and chasing the line to ensure efficient work completion.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Proactive in the communication and escalation of issues in both Planning and Scheduling in relation to routine maintenance and planned works to Service lead
  • Interrogating the dashboard repositories (Widgets), process work orders inline to PR requirements and work with supervisors to prepare sites for programming. Highlighting defects that need pre scoping at the earliest event
  • Reviewing work orders for compliance within contractual PR’s, including if defects are on/off project network
  • Working in accordance with the New Roads and Street Works Act, 1991, liaise with works order generator and service leads to resolve any issues that may be present
  • Filing application to the Streets Ahead Permitting team for road space occupation when required
  • Assisting in the identification of opportunities for collaborative work, through either sharing Permit permission or road space occupation
  • Ensuring that both Planned, and reactive works are reclassified in line with agreed Amey/SCC Procedure
  • Ensuring stakeholder communication is managed appropriately and in line with any agreed frequencies. This also pertains to the purposes of issue resolution which includes contact with 3rd Party contractors, customers, or companies

The training you will be getting

  • As part of your Apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto a nationally recognised qualification of Business Administrator Level 3
  • Your Apprenticeship typically takes 18 months to complete and is fully supported through a combination of regular online lessons, e-learning materials, and access to their team of experts for 1-2-1 advice and support

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • A business administrator career can allow you to enter a senior level position over the time as well as allow you to progress to Executive Assistant roles
