What you will do in your working day

Purpose of Post.

To support the planning and delivery of events for commercial events and General Administration.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The post-holder will typically be responsible for assisting in the planning and delivering of events and the invoicing of commercial and external events to meet income generation targets
  • General administration that includes raising purchase orders, stock taking and working on Stores system. Provide cover in telephony when required
  • To liaise, as appropriate, with other departments and external contractors, especially in relationship to the management of events, to ensure the client’s requirements are met
  • To support the delivery of commercial events, meeting with clients to discuss their event needs and update set-up notes held on file
  • To administrate and print seating plans, menus and place cards, and any other material necessary, undertaking quality checks to ensure accuracy
  • Attend weekly event meetings to discuss and plan commercial events. Be the first point of call for queries and issues relating to these events
  • Liaison with the other teams and in-house caterers to ensure that all relevant event catering requirements are managed to a high standard and in accordance with the client’s expectations
  • To attend and support the running of the event ensuring guests are appropriately welcomed and, if necessary, seated during events
  • To contribute to the review and maintenance of local procedures including health and safety, logistical organisation and security in conjunction with the Commercial Events Manager and the Keeper of Central Criminal Court
  • To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be requested and appropriate to the grade
  • To actively seek to implement the City of London’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy in relation to the duties of the post, and at all times give due regard to the health and safety of both themselves and others when carrying out their duties

The training you will be getting

You will be supported to achieve the Business Administration Level 3 apprenticeship. Theoretical training will be delivered weekly with the support of the training provider. Practical training and support will be given in the workplace allowing you to embed your learning in the working environment.

You will receive hours 6 per week to support with your apprenticeship studies. 

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, we aim to offer a permanent role within the team if a position is available. Alternatively, we shall endeavour to secure an alternative position within the City of London Corporation.

Things to consider

A standard DBS will be required for this role. Police security checks may also be required depending on DBS report
