What you will do in your working day

You will have the opportunity to be part of a highly skilled maintenance department that conducts servicing, planned preventative maintenance, condition monitoring, breakdowns, remedial works and machine enhancements and refurbishments.

Duties to include:

  • Working in areas on the repair of woodworking machine tool equipment
  • Responding to breakdowns, remedial works and project work and machine enhancements

You will gain skills and knowledge in:

  • Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical/Pneumatic and Hydraulic competent
  • Understanding motor control circuits, star/delta and invertors
  • PLC training
  • Trained to be competent to read electrical drawings
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
  • Mechanical fitting
  • CNC training

The training you will be getting

Engineering Technician Level 3 - Technical Support Technician.

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

On successful completion of the four-year programme, individuals will be awarded the Apprenticeship Standard for an Engineering Technician (Level 3). Completion of an individual assessment will be undertaken to determine whether a full-time position will be offered.
