What you will do in your working day

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with motivation to work in a busy office environment to gain a wide range of administrative skills along with a formal business administration qualification. Administration Support Apprentices provide a high quality, efficient and accurate clerical and administrative support in support of all contracts.

Important aspects of the work include:

· Providing a welcoming point of initial contact to the service
· Dealing with enquiries effectively and efficiently by identifying the reason for the enquiry and either providing appropriate information or referring it to other colleagues or agencies where appropriate
· Recording information
· Understanding and accurately inputting data onto relevant contract systems to ensure activities and contacts are recorded and can be evidenced
· Maintain careers and related information and resources
· Receive incoming calls in a sensitive and professional manner ensuring callers are professionally managed

Typical work tasks 

· Providing a welcoming first point of contact for clients

· Participating in company telephone rota

Assessing the reasons for enquiries and identifying how best these enquires can be answered

· Providing relevant information to enquirers

· Referring enquirers to colleagues and other agencies where appropriate

· Undertake general administrative and clerical duties including but not limited to:

– Housekeeping

– Health and safety checks

– Ensuring availability of refreshments for customers

– Ordering of supplies

– Arranging meetings and booking venues

– Processing expenses for customers

– Filing and file maintenance

– Producing management information as required

– Photocopying and scanning paperwork

– Minute taking

– Researching information

– Production and distribution of a wide range of leaflets, posters, letters, documents and reports to a high standard of accuracy, in a prompt and professional manner

The training you will be getting


The successful candidate will work towards completing the Level 3 Business Administration Standard from the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education. Delivered by Blackpool and The Fylde College offering expert tuition and exceptional facilities.

Off-the-job training

Developing your skills at work is called on-the-job training, 20% of your apprenticeship (equal to one full day a week) will be ‘off-the-job’. This might include attending College, tackling projects, online learning, coaching, shadowing, or training for your job.

Stacks of support

Assessment mostly takes place in the workplace. When you start, you will be allocated a skills coach, who will visit you at least once a month to guide and support you and help you to plan for your future. We will also provide you with specialist support for your English and maths and for any additional needs that you make us aware of.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

This post is fixed term for 18 months initially, with potential for permanent employment following the successful completion of the apprenticeship.
