What you will do in your working day

Do you enjoy working in a high-energy team? Take pride in high standards? And feel satisfied when you smash today’s targets? Then this opportunity could be for you.

Here at Samworth Brothers we are proud to offer our Higher-Level Apprenticeship Scheme (HLA) to give you a great springboard to start your career in the food industry. In 2018, we saw that by creating this scheme we could support ambitious people to gain a degree alongside real-world work experience at the same time, and our business would benefit from the energy and fresh thinking that an under-graduate could contribute. So far, we’ve seen fantastic results and we’re now recruiting for our 2023 intake.

This opportunity could be your first step in a career within the food industry which has so many possibilities! We have 2 positions available for 2023 within our Operations job family.

The role includes:

  • Taking our developed products through the supply chain of planning, production and delivery to our customers.
  • Working collaboratively across a number of functions.
  • Building your stakeholder management to deliver high-quality finished goods to order for our key customers.

During your programme you have 3 x 1-year placements within different teams.

Your degree studies are centred on a Chartered Manager degree through our academic partner Sheffield Hallam University (SHU). You may know that SHU is a National Centre of Excellence for Food Engineering, featuring in the 2020 Good University Guide for teaching quality, and currently rated 80% for student satisfaction. A number of our existing group colleagues are alumni and as we have been working in partnership with the university for a number of years, so we are confident that you will receive high quality education and will be well supported.

The training you will be getting

  • You attend Sheffield Hallam University on block release for 4 days at a time, 5 times a year
  • The degree award is BA (Hons) Professional Practice in Management
