You will work on new build housing construction sites and learn from the site management team on all aspects of site supervision. As part of St. Modwen Early Career program, the successful candidate will also undertake a 3-year training period where they are supported to achieve a higher level 4 technical apprenticeship.

What you will do in your working day
You will be accountable for ensuring all activities within your role and those of your line reports follow our hierarchy, with ‘Keeping our people safe’ our first priority. Create and maintain a positive culture of health and safety to ensure a safe working environment. Ensure all activities are properly planned and carried out in line with the company’s health and safety policies and procedures. Any non-compliance, including allowing anyone to take risks that could affect their health and safety, may be investigated in line with our disciplinary policy.
Through the training programme, you will gain an operational understanding of and be able to demonstrate competence in:
- Site documentation and procedures to manage and accurately record site activities during the construction process
- Engineering and setting out of projects
- Become familiar with the terminology and equipment used.
- Managing materials, including calling off, scheduling deliveries of materials and storage
- Principles of project activity planning, sequencing and construction programming
- End to end Commercial processes from procurement and tender documentation through to placing orders
- Quality Management and quality procedures in St. Modwen Homes
- Understanding of how our status as a '5 Star Builder' is maintained and that every home is built to the specified design and standard, with the aim of zero defects, focusing on the delivery of excellent customer service
- Sales and customer service activity, including the sales journey and dealing with customer complaints
- Technical functions in the construction phase (Live Sites) and in the pre-construction phase, including a knowledge of the required section agreements and planning requirements
- Development of people management skills
- Understanding the industry’s best practice and innovations, including NHBC guidelines
- To work collaboratively with internal teams, including Sales, Technical, Customer Service and Commercial
- Developing and maintaining effective relationships with key external parties, including all external consultants and sub-contractors, building on existing networks
- Use Personal Best to set clear business and personal development objectives to achieve
- Promote and lives the values of St. Modwen
- Maintain knowledge and adhere to relevant Group Policies and Procedures, Legislation and Regulations
The training you will be getting
- A Level 4 qualification in Construction and Built Environment that meets the knowledge requirements of the standard and is approved by the industry’s recognised professional bodies meeting the educational requirements for technician status or the equivalent level of membership
- English and maths; apprentices without level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment
- Training and training location to be confirmed

Apprentices at St. Modwen Homes are an integral part of our Future Talent Programme. In the last 2 years we have promoted our successful apprentices into trainee/assistant site managers.
