What you will do in your working day
- The apprenticeship role will involve learning housing duties such as preparing paperwork for service charges, supporting meetings with residents, data administration, arranging viewings and reporting and arranging maintenance and repair work without delay
- Learn about the key principles, practices and legislation relating to current landlord and tenant law for the letting, maintenance and termination of a variety of tenancy types
- Gain knowledge of the principles, practices and legislation as it applies to governance, court proceedings, contracts, data protection, safeguarding and other relevant areas
- Develop knowledge around housing legislation and regulations and how they apply to housing standards
- Develop skills and insight into the social, physical context of our residents and communities and how to resolve defects, common problems, health and safety issues and repairs to dwellings
- Acquire knowledge about the diversity of the communities which the organisation serves
- Develop a range of communication skills in order to provide a professional, accurate, timely, ethical and non-judgemental front line service which meets the needs of a diverse range of clients.
- Have a positive attitude towards dignity, empathy and respect ensuring it is at the centre of all your work with the individuals you support, their families and your own colleagues
- To develop empathy and respect with everyone you work alongside
- Gain knowledge of the importance of strength when supporting people in ways that may challenge personal/cultural/moral beliefs
- Be aware of your limitations in regard to your training and seek help and guidance from your colleagues if you feel unconfident in any aspect of your role
- Develop skills around effective and preferred methods of communication with individuals
- Learn about the importance of keeping buildings, people and others safe and secure at all times
- Record, store clients records safely and confidentially, be assured in your duty of disclosure
- Have a commitment to organising and planning your own work to ensure tasks are completed and deadlines met
- Learn about the effective use of IT equipment and software, through administration and the appropriate use of work equipment
- Have a commitment to compliance with all organisational policies and procedures, being aware of our whistleblowing procedure.
- Develop knowledge on how to deal with a concern or complaint and raise concerns of unsafe working practices without delay to a manager or senior leader
- Be supported to develop high levels of resilience, tenacity and calmness
- Learn and demonstrate you can work within safe, clear professional boundaries
- Have a commitment to being adaptable, reliable, professional and consistent
The training you will be getting
- You will gain CIH Level 3 Certificate in Housing Practice whilst working towards this level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
- Delivery will be via monthly workshops and one to one visits from your Development Coach
