Kingston GP Chambers is a GP federation, and we have an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to develop key transferable skills whilst supporting our education centre and recruitment service. The apprenticeship will be varied and there will be many opportunities to develop and get involved in projects during the duration of the apprenticeship.

    £16,000.00

    The role will also enable enrolment into the company pension scheme.

  • Working week

    The working week will be Monday to Friday with some flexibility around start and finish times. Generally this will be a 8 hour working day with 30-minute break. Exact shifts TBC.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Ensure all student paperwork is in place prior to commencement of placement
  • Collate and monitor student evaluation and keep in touch forms
  • Create education centre clinics on EMIS (clinical system)
  • Provide reception support including greeting and tracing patients in for appointments
  • Assist with Portable Application Testing (PAT) of electrical appliances as and when required
  • Assist Recruitment and Recruitment Manager with sending out and following up onboarding documentation
  • Assist with managing candidate interviews 
  • Manage job postings on various job boards
  • Maintain recruitment spreadsheets

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The successful applicant will be undertaking a Level 3 Business Administration qualification
  • Functional Skills in maths and English, if required 
  • It is anticipated, the apprenticeship may take up to 18-months to complete. It is expected the delivery of the apprenticeship will undertake their course at Kingston College via day release

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • The successful candidate will be able to develop a number of transferable skills during the course of their apprenticeship
  • This opportunity could lead to more administrative responsibility working within our clinical services or could lead to a future career path in HR or recruitment
  • Much will be dependant on where the individual would like their career to be guided to. However, we are fully invested in our staff and would be keen to support the apprentice as best we can in their future career aspirations

About the employer

Kingston GP Chambers is a Federation of all NHS General Practices within the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. It was founded in 2008 as a limited company whose shareholders are all 20 GP Practices within Kingston. The company is led by a Board of Directors who are also GP Partners in their own Practices within Kingston. Kingston GP Chambers has worked collaboratively with both secondary care and the private sector. At present we provide community clinics for Dermatology, Urology, Neurology, Dementia and Diabetes. In addition, Kingston GP Chambers are at the forefront of improving patient access to primary care. We deliver a comprehensive extended hours service offering GP appointments across three hubs in the evenings Monday to Friday, over the weekend and on Bank Holidays. Our Education Centre (KEC) was established in 2019 by Kingston GP Chambers (KGPC) in order to meet the need for undergraduate student placements in primary care settings. KEC runs from a dedicated training facility in New Malden, where we provide GP consultation appointments, observed by students, for any patient registered with a Kingston GP practice. We have partnered with local universities including; Kingston University, Roehampton University, St George’s Medical School, St Mary’s Twickenham University, Imperial Medical School, Kings College London and University College London, and further afield, Southampton University, in order to support the training of nursing, medical and allied healthcare students.
