What will the apprentice be doing?
This role is for a general apprentice within our centre of Bath based office. Alongside your training, you will be periodically working in different departments within the firm in order to gain experience. These departments would be tax, accounts and audit and some of the duties are listed below:
- Prepare self-assessment tax returns and consistently meet deadlines
- Assist tax portfolio managers with administration aspects of the tax return compliance process
- Liaise with HMRC on matters in a timely and efficient manner
- Collaborate with colleagues in tax and accounting to provide coordinated service to clients
- Report accurately and promptly to client queries
- Keep Tax Managers informed of job progress and any issues
- Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts for a various range of clients
- Assist with the preparation of yearend financial statements / accounts for a range of unincorporated businesses
- Carry out a variety of bookkeeping assignments for clients, both in-house and at client premises
- Learn to prepare management account for clients, providing them with vital insights into their financial preformation
- Prepare HMRC VAT returns for clients
- Utilise a range of industry-standard accounting software with the support of experience professionals including Iris, Xero, Quickbooks, Sage and more, expanding your technical skills in financial software
- Report on a timely and accurate manner to client queries
- Keep Account Managers informed of job progress and any issues arising
- Help build and maintain client relationships by providing exceptional level of client service
- Provide valuable assistance on administration tasks as needed

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Professional accounting or taxation technician, Level 4 (national cert)
- Functional skills or equivalent, if needed
- On and off the job training and location to be confirmed
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Once the apprenticeship has been completed the candidate may be offered a permanent role within the company with the option to continue with their training and progress within the RS team.
