What will the apprentice be doing?

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an apprentice to support the work of the People Team (HR), based in Coalville. Working alongside our experienced People Team, you will be mentored and supported to learn all aspects of human resources.  

The apprentice will play an important team role in the day-to-day operations of the department and will develop a broad range of general HR and administration skills such as recruitment, selection, HR projects, updating our HR Information System and helping administer processes that support our employee lifecycle.

Duties to include:

  • Manage the People Team email inboxes
  • Provide great customer service in response to telephone and face to face queries
  • Data inputting and maintenance of HR data base (Cascade)
  • General administration duties including photocopying, scanning and online filing of documents
  • Produce documents on behalf of the People Team to support the employee life cycle
  • Administration of any benefit schemes e.g., adding new starters and removing leavers on the health cash plan
  • Carry out telephone exit interviews
  • Provide administration support for any annual processes and/or projects e.g., DBS renewals

Recruitment Administration:

  • Act as first point of contact for candidates in respect of all recruitment queries
  • Liaise with the recruiting manager to draft and produce adverts and advertise vacancies through our recruitment system (Recruitment +) and other publications as requested
  • Manage candidate applications through the recruitment system
  • Onboarding candidates through the recruitment system. Issuing pre-offer and offer paperwork and conducting pre-employment checks
  • Produce ID badges for new starters
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and handle all information in accordance with the People Data Protection policy

It is important that the successful candidate is able to respect the confidential nature of personal information and privacy. There will be a variety of duties across a number of departments within the People Team and therefore occasional visits to other sites within the region may be required.
