What will the apprentice be doing?

This is a great opportunity for somebody wishing to join a growing and exciting accountancy firm to help drive forward the business whilst developing your own skills and experience.

You will play a key role in managing your own portfolio of clients as well as helping to develop the growth of an exciting new business. The key responsibilities are:

  • Managing your own client portfolio.
  • Preparation of year end accounts.
  • Preparation of corporation tax returns and personal tax returns.
  • PAYE and VAT preparation.
  • Meeting the demands of clients, handling telephone and e-mail queries.
  • Ensuring clients’ accounts are kept fully up to date.
  • Securing new clients.
  • Keeping fully up to date with new tax laws, rules and regulations.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3. This level is ideal for existing staff or new talent in an accounting or finance role. Their work could include assisting in the day to day financial activities such as data entry to month end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements.

You will be studying the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. This level will encourage you to master more complex accounting principles in both Bookkeeping and Management Accounting. You will study 5 units: Financial Accounting; Preparing Financial Statements (FAPS). Management Accounting Techniques (MATS). Tax Processes for Business (TPFB). Business Awareness (BUAW). Advanced Synoptic Assessment (ADSY) which forms part of your End Point Assessment. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate time to off the job training, as well as completing knowledge, skills and behaviors associated with your apprenticeship.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The right candidate may be on track for progression to Client Accountant, then Team Manager along with KPI bonus led structure..
