What you will do in your working day
- Answer patient queries both in person and over the telephone, including results of investigations, hospital appointments and give advice on administrative matters. Referring to other members of the Practice Team where appropriate
- Prepare repeat prescriptions on computer in readiness for the doctors’ authorisation and signature. Review needs for follow-up according to Practice protocols and action as needed
- Ensure the Task list is actioned in a timely and effective manner
- Liaise effectively with doctors, nurses and other Practice staff including attached professional staff such as midwives, district nurses and health visitors, other external agencies such as the CCG, hospitals, chemists, social services, to ensure relevant information is passed on appropriately
- Processing incoming and outgoing mail
- File and store records as required
- Photocopy documentation as required
- Process letters as requested
- Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information
- Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient’s healthcare records
- Process referrals to external agencies such as secondary care
- Input data into the patient’s healthcare records as necessary
- Action tasks
- Process requests for information i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitor's letters and DVLA forms
- Process incoming e-test results, ensuring they are referred to the relevant clinician
- Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
- Procession online consultations
- Manage all administrative queries as necessary
- Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested
The training you will be getting
An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence. You will be
expected to work towards the Business Administrator Level 3, with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group.
