What will the apprentice be doing?
To provide assistance to the Accounts junior in a fast paced property development & construction business.
The ideal candidate will pick up processes quickly and will be prepared to learn from both the accounts assistant and finance manager.
The role will centre around the purchase ledgers on multiple businesses and the candidate will learn to use Xero accounting software and various other software as required.
The group is made up of a variety of successful businesses in the property sector.
The natural progression would be to take on more accounting responsibility but we would be more than happy to accommodate different roles within the business.
Tasks may include:
- General ledger processing.
- Reconciling supplier accounts
- Communicating with suppliers and the wider team within the business
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
SGS has elected to deliver the on-programme learning using the Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) Foundation Certificate in Accounting Level 2.
AAT as the lead awarding organisation for accounting have been involved in the development of the apprenticeship Standard and have mapped the diplomas to the Standard. Advantages of using the Certificate as the delivery model for the Apprenticeship Standard:
A structured, proven training programme that equips the candidate with the skillset required for the industry
Thorough mapping against the Standard ensuring all skills,knowledge and behaviours are covered
Achievement of an industry-recognised accounting technical qualification
Provides a platform for progress tracking
Prepares the candidate for End Point Assessment with AAT
Provides a basis for progression
External quality assurance through an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation
An appeals and redress process with the awarding organisation
Attendance at weekly classes for each module is mandatory for all apprentices at our Filton Campus
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Successful completion of the apprenticeship, full-time and permanent position will be discussed.
