What will the apprentice be doing?

Undertake a wide range of activities which will include handling day to day queries from the People Team mailboxes, working on a range of HR processes from recruitment through to appointment, assisting in the preparation of staff contractual documents, and inputting into the HR system as required. Assist in the administration of payroll and learning and development and office and facilities.

Expected to work both independently and under supervision.

Duties-

  • Supporting the preparation of staff recruitment via the recruitment system and administer all new starter paperwork e.g. carrying out essential pre-employment checks, references and ensure all right to work details are up to date
  • Data inputting of new starter employment details onto HR system and maintaining and updating employee records on the HR system to ensure records are set up legally and kept up to date
  • Able to produce and manipulate excel and HR system reports
  • To process letters and forms in a timely manner such as change to contract letters and leaver letters
  • Help to manage the HR inboxes ensuring that emails are responded to in a timely manner or that the email is escalated to the appropriate team member.
  • Supporting People and Culture Officer and Head of People and Culture with organisation of learning and development courses including booking courses and sending out invites
  • To support staff and managers with basic queries on policies and processes.
  • Ensure the maintenance of employee records, ensuring complete accuracy and confidentiality
  • Assist the People and Culture Officer with the administration of payroll
  • Assist with the provision of office and facilities duties
  • To support the People and Culture Team with reviewing current processes and implementing ideas to improve our People Team function
  • Provide a high level of customer service
  • Ensure all internal HR processes and procedures are adhered to
  • To undertake a Level 3 HR Apprenticeship and apply learnings and best practice to the role
  • Attend to ad hoc requests from the People Team in a timely and polite manner
  • Identify and prioritise own workload to ensure that objectives are met
  • Undertake any other reasonable task as directed by line manager or Head of People and Culture

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The People and Culture team is a small team therefore career progression opportunities may be limited. There may be the prospect of permanent work following the apprenticeship based on performance

Things to consider

If you are successful in securing an interview, you are likely to be required to attend a pre-interview at the college. Hybrid – 60% home/40% office. A minimum of two days a week in the office
