What will the apprentice be doing?
To be part of the reception team which contributes to the smooth running of the practice by being the first point of contact for our patients.
1. To act as a point of contact for patients needing to be in touch with the surgery, either by telephone or face to face.
2. To maintain a good relationship between staff and patients, by showing sensitivity to the needs of others.
3. To maintain total confidentiality regarding information about patients and ensure that all patients are treated in a courteous and respectful manner.
4. Assist in the smooth running of the surgery:
• Dealing with patients politely and efficiently when they contact the practice.
• Answering general queries, making appointments and recording messages accurately.
• Booking patients into the GP triage if urgent on the day.
• Opening and distribution of post
• Scanning documents into the clinical system
• Data entry for new registrations
• Tidying reception/admin office at the end of the day
• As far as possible maintain a clear desk policy
• Notify your line manager if you become aware of any faults
• Covering other staff when they are on holiday or sick leave.
• Summarising medical notes
• Other duties that are deemed appropriate for the job
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
· Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship in Customer Service, including NVQ and functional skills maths and English if required. Work based learning.
· In house training delivered by an NLTG assessor
· NLTG assessor will visit every 4-6 weeks
