What will the apprentice be doing?

  • To receive and welcome all visitors to the school in a friendly and professional manner
  • Process ID checks for all visitors in accordance with the Trust safeguarding procedures ensuring that everyone is signed in and out and wearing appropriate identification
  • To seek to ensure the safety and welfare of pupils by being aware of unexpected visitors and reporting to senior management team any concerns
  • To ensure that all queries, either in person or by telephone are dealt with efficiently and appropriately
  • To keep display material up to date in the office and reception area, including parent packs, standard forms etc, and replenish as necessary to ensure the smooth running of the office
  • Administration of school milk, dinner monies, uniform and other monies related to school matters
  • Be responsible for the dinner registers

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 3 Business Administrator (an industry recognised Qualification) delivered via monthly Tutor led workshops (live, virtual 3 - 5 hour sessions), self-led study (assignments, worksheets, projects) blended learning and development activities, ALL, within the workplace.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

As with any apprenticeship opportunity - if you prove yourself to be a valuable member of the team there is a strong chance of a permanent post within the business.

Things to consider

How does an Apprenticeship work? As an Apprentice, you will be employed, just like anyone else in the organisation, the difference is that you will be studying towards a qualification, whilst you work. You’ll spend a minimum of 6 hours a week (of your total working hours) in a number of different training, learning & development activities that all develop your knowledge, skills & behaviours in line with your apprenticeship qualification. These will include (for example) staff meetings, online courses, shadowing other team members, as well as a monthly study workshop) basically a lesson, with your Tutor, lasting for 2-3 hours, during which you will be taught a particular subject / topic / module. Please NOTE: your lesson is delivered REMOTELY, and so there is no requirement for you to attend any other location other than your place of work. Any work that you are set within this session is then expected to be complete for the next month’s session. You will be given time each week to do this within your working day - so NO homework!! This will all prepare you for your End Point Assessment (EPA) once you have completed all the learning required.
