What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Day to day processing of income/expenditure.
  • Ensuring all invoices are approved in accordance with company policy.
  • Coding all invoices and bank payments.
  • Creating weekly payment run on the online banking system.
  • Dealing with all invoice queries and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Sending out remittance advices.
  • Processing permanent placement & international invoices and chasing the outstanding debt.
  • Reconciling the bank daily.
  • Processing the monthly credit card transactions and chasing card holders for receipts.
  • Various weekly reconciliations such as staff advances, project transactions.
  • Management of intercompany balances.
  • Ad-hoc finance support.
  • Raising training and DBS invoices on sagepay and checking if locums have paid.
  • Preparing monthly journals for Pension, Employees NI, ABI to move to costs to correct departments etc.
  • Preparing journals for Fixed assets depreciations.
  • General bookkeeping for external.
  • Assist with preparation and submission of VAT Return each quarter.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Working towards completing Accounts or Finance Assistance Apprenticeship Standard. Attendance at Hertford Regional College one day per week to achieve AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There will be opportunities for progression and a permanent position subject to performance.

Things to consider
