What will the apprentice be doing?

Apprentices are an integral component to the running of our Pharmacy. 

We are looking for someone who is an enthusiastic team player, and can take on the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):

  • Accurately dispense medication to our patients, whilst maintaining attention to detail at all times.
  • Supporting and delivering pharmacy services to patients.
  • Working as part of a team and actively demonstrating a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives
  • Delivering and maintaining the best customer service, with friendly advice, recommendations on items of sale, and ensuring our customers wish to revisit us
  • Requesting prescriptions on behalf of patients and care homes, by communicating with doctors and other key contacts in a primary setting
  • Ensuring all rules and Standard Operating Procedures are followed in the Pharmacy
  • Ensuring dispensary and shop areas are always clean, tidy, and free of clutter
  • Keeping up to date with all developments in Pharmacy both professional and legal
  • Aiming to have a business related mindset, by trying to increase company profits whilst also maintaining our ethical and legal NHS standards

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 2 Pharmacy Assistant Apprenticeship Standard:

  • General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Functional Skills maths and English Level 1 and/or Level 2, as appropriate
  • Training will take place at the workplace - no need to travel to a college

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • If available (and if the candidate successfully completes the apprenticeship) a permanent role and salary review will take place, which will include a Christmas bonus and a Performance based package
