What will the apprentice be doing?
Our teaching assistant apprenticeship programme will teach many different skills, which will allow you to work within schools to support classroom delivery.
Duties will include:
- Regularly working directly with children in a one-to-one capacity
- Supporting the teacher and helping pupils with the understanding of the work the teacher has supplied
- Working closely with teachers to ensure own contribution aligns with the teaching
- Planning sessions and think about learning objectives for children with a variety of needs
- Delivering/leading teaching within clearly defined/planned parameters using initiative, sensitivity and understanding
- Raising standards of achievement for key pupils- Encouraging pupils to become more independent learners
- Providing support for their emotional, social, and physical welfare
- Assisting in areas of specific weakness, such as speech and language or writing tasks
- Attending to pupils’ personal care when needed and health needs
- Supporting the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life
- Working under the direction of the line manager, class teachers and other staff to support the learning of whole classes, selected groups or individuals as instructed
- Contributing to a range of assessment processes and use information effectively for example: written records
- Using specific feedback to help pupils make progress
- Applying good subject knowledge to support accurate assessment
All other such duties as required commensurate with the role.

Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Apprenticeship Standard:
This training programme focuses on developing classroom delivery and work within schools. The Diploma aims to grow your existing skillset in the following key areas:
- Increased mastery of the critical stages of child and adolescent development
- Enhance understanding of the types of influences that can affect this development
- Become fully adept in supporting teachers with the planning of activities, as well as creating own activity plans
- Evaluation of personal performance in relation to supporting literacy, numeracy, and ICT
- Amplify knowledge of safeguarding, and emergency procedures
- Understand legislation with regard to confidentiality, data protection, and information sharing
