What will the apprentice be doing?

Undertaking the following tasks:

  • Electrical fitting activities on High Voltage switch gear, transformers and associated equipment

  • Installation of Control and protection equipment

  • Installation of Earthing Systems

  • Installation of outdoor equipment such as Bus Bar, Disconnectors and Switchgear

  • Maintenance of High Voltage equipment

  • Fault Finding on Low and High Voltage equipment

  • Receiving High Voltage documents

  • Quals & Accreditations:
    • Power Network Craftsperson Apprenticeship
    • EU Skills Apprenticeship Development Scheme accreditation
    • Plus, mandatory qualifications and accreditations associated with the industry 
  • Where & When:
    • 3 Year programme - Block release training with our provider in Manchester
    • Quarterly development sessions delivered face to face and virtually

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Become a fully competent fitter within 5 years
  • Ability to progress onto HNC qualification after 12 months of completing the apprenticeship (dependent on competency level and experience)
