What will the apprentice be doing?

We have an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to join the team at a local entertainment venue that incorporates various leisure - based activities, including a technology driven arena pursuit. The centre caters for small groups and parties with their pursuits, as well as housing a food and drink outlet.

The business is looking for a confident and outgoing individual to join their team. Working predominantly, but not exclusively, in the kitchen the apprentice will be given the opportunity to get involved in many aspects of the business to gain an overview and wide experience of running a business within the hospitality and events trade.

Within the kitchen, they will be involved in:-

  •  Food preparation including the creation of salads, garnishes and side dishes.
  • Creating some hot meals from base ingredients such as homemade chillis, curries and soups.
  • Small batch cooking for freezing.
  • Taking orders and serving customers with wide range of hot and cold dishes.
  • Using the pizza oven.
  • Preparation of food party bags.
  • Serving breakfasts and dinners.
  • Preparation and serving of drinks, alcoholic and non- alcoholic, hot and cold.
  •  Temperature checks on food using automated probes.
  • Customer transactions using card and cash payments.
  • Cleaning equipment.
  • Preparation of kitchen for day’s service.
  • Catering for adult and children’s parties and events.
  • Menu development.

As well as kitchen duties, as a Hospitality Team Member, the apprentice will be involved in other aspects of the day to day running of the business including:-

  • Being trained to lead small groups in the technology driven activity.
  • Stock rotation.
  • Environmental health checks.
  • Daily health and safety checks in venue as a whole.
  • Digital bookings.
  • General housekeeping within the venue.
  • Booking in deliveries.
  • Support other team members.
  • Telephone and reception work.
  • Some business administration work as needed.

The business would like someone who will be able to contribute across the business and whilst a large part of the role will be kitchen based, they will be expected to get involved in all other aspects of the business’ work.

The successful candidate will be given first aid training leading to the Level 3 Certificate First Aid at Work.

The successful candidate must be willing to have a DBS Check undertaken ( the business will cover the cost of this.)

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The successful candidate will work towards a Level 2 Hospitality Team Member qualification.

Functional skills if required.

They will receive formal training by means of regular online training sessions.

On successful completion of apprenticeship there is opportunity to progress into full-time employment.

Due to the serving of alcohol and legal restricitons applicants need to be 18+ Applicants need to be prepared for a DBS check to be carried out
