What will the apprentice be doing?
The role has a lot of opportunity for training and career growth in a team with a strong culture of mentoring and support. In the role you will be able to specialise in one of the following disciplines – Civil Engineering, Bridges, Building Structures, Geotechnical or Highways.
The primary role of an Apprentice is to provide technical support to project teams by undertaking specialist and technical tasks that support the overall objectives set by the Lead engineer. The main duties are to:
- To work effectively and contribute to engineering solutions by the correct use of resources and time. This includes an understanding of project management systems, tools and techniques as they are applied to the design and construction process.
- Support proposal development and help deliver work‐packages within projects
- Execute tasks to quality standards, to time and to budget
- Record and present information clearly
- Assist with on-site inspections and surveys where appropriate
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and the post-holder is expected to carry out any task or role that is within their abilities and grade upon reasonable request.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
We are looking for a motivated, organised individual that will be able to manage between work and study. The candidate will be working in our Birmingham office alongside a team of engineers and technicians, with travel to the University Warwick for residential study, consisting of one-week blocks of face-to-face teaching, supported by online learning. Student accommodation is provided for the face-to-face teaching weeks. Costs of travel and accommodation for the week blocks will be supported within the role.
Upon the successful completion of this apprenticeship, you will be awarded with a BEng Civil and Infrastructure Engineering.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Progress to higher level apprenticeship or into full-time employment, developing as a Civil Engineer or Technician.
