What will the apprentice be doing?
-
You will be gaining valuable workplace experience whilst working towards the AAT qualification

The candidate will initially work as part of our audit and accounts team to perform individual tasks on such assignments, including substantive testing and balance sheet verification work reporting to seniors on that assignment

We provide excellent support and training on the job and look to progress each individual as ability

This would quickly progress to being responsible for their own accounting jobs reporting to managers or directors as applicable

The candidate would also be involved as part of larger audit teams helping to carry out the transactional verification work and auditing various areas of the balance sheet

We use an electronic audit and accounting system for our apprentice to assist with the set-up of files

The candidate would be required to work both at our offices and on the client premises
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Assistant accountant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
- Advanced Diploma - AAT Level 3 Advanced builds on the knowledge gained at the Foundation level. If you work in accounts or have studied accountancy before, you may be able to start at this level
- You’ll learn complex accounting techniques, and master a number of accounting disciplines, including financial processes, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts and ethical practices for accountants
- This level will encourage you to master more complex accounting principles in both Bookkeeping and Management Accounting. You’ll develop the technical skills to start, or progress, your career in accountancy and this will allow you to continue with your studies at Level 4
- To pass this level you’ll need to study five units (also known as subjects), which are all mandatory. Four of the units are examined individually and there is also a synoptic assessment that you’ll take towards the end of the level, which incorporates the final two units as well as drawing on all of the other units
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the right candidate could have excellent progression available to progress onto AAT Level 4 and then onto Level 7 (ACA)
