What will the apprentice be doing?

  • To work as part of the staff team providing practical/emotional support, advice, guidance and information to young people between 16+ who are living in supported accomodation and those who are eligible for leaving care support until they are 25
  • To help them develop practical life skills and support their transition toward independence
  • To provide staff cover on an extended day basis and at weekends and bank holidays as required
  • Your role will include day to day support both in the young people's accommodation and in the comunity, working shifts that cover daytime, evnings, weekends and some overnight shifts

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The qualification is a ‘Children & Young People Practitioner’ and is designed for workers within children and young people’s services. This qualification is delivered in the workplace and is the equivalent of a Level 4 QCF. Average completion timescale is 12 - 16 months

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Many support staff move on to social work or youth work

The ability to undertake relevant training as appropriate.
