What will the apprentice be doing?
- Undertake engineering training as directed by the business
Attend our training partners' facilities to undertake Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) training in manual welding and fabrication techniques and maintain a portfolio of work - Work in a safe manner and follow all health & safety requirements including risk assessments, safe systems off work, and control of substances hazardous to health requirements
- Maintain and submit an accurate weekly timesheet
- Develop knowledge of Leviat Limited, its departments and products
- Support the integration of new machinery contributing ideas on suppliers
- Supporting the integration of new cells and supporting robotic automation upgrades to current manufacturing lines
- Quality check robotic programming sequencing for MIG welding requirements
- Programme robotic cell to perform MIG welding techniques to Leviat Limited and client specification
- Regularly update and maintain a personal copy of the Leviat departmental skills matrix
- Have visibility and working knowledge of the Leviat cultural charter
- Be responsible for own travel to and from site
- Actively engage with your mentor
- Whilst on-site, carry out development and production work as directed by the site managers
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will study on a Level 3 Plate Welder standard on a Metal Fabricator pathway. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Advanced Level 3 standard.
During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.

Completion of the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre apprenticeships are nationally recognised qualifications which are acknowledged and respected by employers across the world.
