What will the apprentice be doing?

• To work in a busy, friendly accountancy practice initially in the VAT department
• To assist in the preparation of client’s accounts.
- Updating client’s banking and cash analysis.
• To assist in the preparation of client’s VAT records.
- Processing client transactions using SAGE online cloud software to produce quarterly VAT returns.
- Sales Ledger - inputting daily takings and receipts
- Purchase Ledger – inputting supplier invoices
- Reconciling the Bank and Cash book.
- Checking for any anomalies in previous quarters and reporting any concerns to Senior Manager.
• To complete VAT billing at the end of a quarter.
- Client’s invoices are processed when required through Digita Practice Management “DPM”. Invoices are billed manually by allocating WIP time to raise bills. Excess time is written off under the supervision of the Senior Accountant.
• To assist with the progress of clients becoming VAT registered.
- Log on through HMRC Government Gateway using the practice account to register clients VAT and agent.
• To get clients files and records out for appointments each day.

• Assist with logging client’s accounts received into the office.
• Assist with archiving documentation.
• Maintain DPM with client information and advice reception of any client’s change in details.
• Monitor and action incoming/outgoing emails.
• Deal with clients face to face and over the telephone.
• Filing and archiving.
• Correspondence via email, letters, SMS and telephone calls.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Depending on the circumstances of the business upon completion of the apprenticeship programme there could be a potential position of employment available.
