Customer service is an integral part of our business. As a customer service apprentice at Experian, you’ll work within our background checking team, get real work experience and develop your skills to unlock career opportunities.

Our background checking team work with a variety of clients and are responsible for verifying employment information to support hiring processes. As a customer service apprentice, you’ll work with a number of component parts of the employment screening process, which will allow you to build your confidence and understanding of multiple screening methods.

Typically, you’d join into either our referencing team where you can expect to be contacting clients, candidates and referees to gather and verify information to support our service. Or you may join our systems process team, speaking with stakeholders to focus on how process improvements can be made and rolled out to continually evolve our service.

Depending on the team you join, day to day you could be:

  • Communicating with a variety of internal or external stakeholders to gather required information, using a variety of methods such as email, telephone and instant messaging
  • Learning how to use and navigate a variety of internal systems
  • Considering how process improvements could be made to continually evolve our service to customers

Working closely with your team, you will blend together a natural ability for problem solving and a keen eye for detail and making accurate decisions. Customer service is a varied role which requires proactivity, and curiosity into ‘how things work’.

The best part of it all? The support you get from Experian. This is a great opportunity to be part of an integral team, to advance both your customer service and administration skills, as well as starting on a career path that offers great progression and learning opportunities! You may also get the chance to rotate into wider customer support teams as you progress through your apprenticeship and beyond.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Alongside your role, you’ll study towards a level 3 apprenticeship in customer service. The duration of the course is typically 15 months and in addition to your salary, you’ll benefit from fully paid tuition fees, as well as our support every step of the way.
