What will the apprentice be doing?

·       Involvement in the day-to-day running of utility projects as instructed by clients in relation to delivering advice to public/private land and properties

·       Site visits to reference and subsequent preparation of reports

·       Correspondence with land agents, property owners, solicitors, local authorities etc.

·       Comprehensive research into land sales to assist with both land and property valuations

·       Meetings on site prior to projects commencing

·       Negotiation with Planning Authorities and VOA

·       Assisting in providing regular client update reports and attending scheme progress meetings as required

·       Day to day updating of projects on company spreadsheets

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Apprentices start at level 4 and progress to Level 6. The apprenticeship is typically undertaken over five academic years, with teaching delivered in a series of week-long blocks at Harper Adams University, spread across the academic year. As apprentices, you will be fully enrolled as a student, and work towards your Degree, but the fees will be covered by your employer through a funding agreement. In the first year modules studied are:

·       Rural Planning and Development

·       Valuation & Estate Management

·       Valuations for fund and rating purposes

·       Professional Practice Skills Development

Successful apprentices will achieve our BSc (Hons) Rural Enterprise and Land Management and then progress to the APC for full Chartered Membership of the RICS as part of the End Point Assessment. The degree incorporates both vocational and academic elements with supervision and ongoing assessment. Successfully completing the degree and End Point Assessment with RICS, guarantees completion of the Degree Apprenticeship Standard and generates the Apprenticeship Certificate.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Following on from this, you will be in a position to join our Graduate  Scheme and you may decide you wish to progress to an MSc in the future.  Davies & Co. also acts for clients in a number of different and diverse areas of work and it is envisaged you will have some exposure to these areas throughout your training programme.
