What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Learning the principles of engineering both academic and practical
  • Repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment
  • Following all relevant Company, Health and Safety & Quality procedures and processes
  • Working with a team of mechanical fitters, who will teach you how to operate and maintain the a range of equipment
  • Preventative maintenance tasks as per schedule
  • Assisting work managers with electrical problems at their sites
  • Reporting any unsafe plant or operations to your line manager

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with us and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including: 

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) - Engineering Basic Skills training – off the job full time
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) 
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) – BTEC Diploma or City & Guilds

This 4 year apprenticeship will be made up of Year 1 at Make UK's state of the art training facility on a residential programme (funded by Aggregate), Year 2 on block release to Make UK, Years 3 and 4 will be full time at work

Things to consider

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Aggregate Industries does not offer visa sponsorship for apprenticeship roles. This role includes the first year on a residential basis in Birmingham, fully funded by the company on a half board basis (breakfast and evening meal), in a fully safeguarding accredited hotel. All travel to and from the training facility will also be covered by Aggregates.
