The successful candidate will study towards their level 2 accounts assistant qualification with support from Loughborough College and gain valuable on the job experience, learning new skills, knowledge and behaviours. You will work on the sales and purchase ledgers as well as other duties.

What will the apprentice be doing?
Sales Ledger:
- To raise manual sales invoices on a monthly basis including sundry rental and recharge invoices.
- To enter sales invoices and credit notes on customer portals in a timely manner.
- To post daily bank receipts to the accounting system, ensuring they are posted to the correct customer account in the correct currency and allocated to the relevant invoice and credit notes.
- To open new sales ledger accounts within the accounting system, once appropriately credit checked and authorised in line with company authorisation limits.
- To raise all appropriately authorised credit notes on a daily basis, accurately booking items into stock if required.
- To support with customer queries, providing proof of deliveries were required, investigating shortages, price discrepancies and any other query, raising credits once authorised.
- Support the senior credit controller with credit control and releasing sales orders.
Purchase Ledger:
- To post purchase invoices to the correct supplier account, posting to the correct general ledger code.
- To process goods receipt purchase orders in line with delivery notes, and process purchase invoices for stock and non-stock items.
- Answer supplier telephone calls, updating the suppliers chasing schedules to identify those chasing payment and detailing ledger creditor balances.
- To process employee expenses including identifying items that are not for business use and posting the VAT correctly.
- To reconcile supplier statements at months end to ensure all supplier invoices are received and processed, identifying any missing invoices and requesting copies.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Qualification
- L2 Apprenticeship Standard in Accounts or Finance Assistant
- AAT level 2
- End-Point Assessment (EPA)
- An apprentice will be put forward for end-point assessment when it is felt that they have achieved the required experience in the workplace to put them in the best possible position to achieve success.
Delivery Method:
- Attendance at college will be required one morning session per week
- Apprenticeship session to assist with portfolio building and preparation for End Point Assessment
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Progression to study for AAT Level 3.
