What will the apprentice be doing?

The purpose of the role is to ensure that scheduled fleet maintenance and defect repairs are managed in the most cost effective and efficient manner. Achieved by detailed scrutiny of the TOPS Fleet Management system, purchase orders and related service documentation. Including the maximisation of all warranty arrangements and extraordinary considerations. To support the smooth and efficient running of the vehicles within the fleet, in order to achieve the company standards and targets.

Key Responsibilities:

• To raise and authorise Engineering purchase orders to agreed financial levels.

• To ensure the fleet is serviced and maintained in accordance with the company’s policy and O Licence obligations.

• To ensure completed documentation regarding vehicle and trailer repairs are completed to company standards.

• To ensure continued support and guidance to maintenance suppliers.

• To maintain at all times good communication between Maritime Operational Departments and Fleet.

• Ensure that the Engineering Policy is adhered to

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The learner will be studying the Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
  • Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.

Things to consider

Although the role is Mon-Fri during the apprenticeship, this will change to shift based upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. (Around 12 months into role). The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £5.28 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
